How to combine multiple PDF's into one file in Debian / Ubuntu

It is very useful to combine multiple PDF documents into one file. In order to do that first insatll the following packages in Ubuntu / Debian:

sudo apt-get install poppler-utils

Now we will see one example how to combine three pdf files: let us assume we have file1.pdf, file2.pdf and file3.pdf.  To combine them we use the following command:

pdfunite file1.pdf file2.pdf file3.pdf combinedpdf.pdf

After you run the above command, a new PDF file called combinedpdf.pdf will be created with your individual files merged according to the order you list. Pretty handy !

pdfunite might be a more simple solution.

from the man page:

EXAMPLE
pdfunite sample1.pdf sample2.pdf sample.pdf

Thanks! Long time ago the package "poppler-utils" was in experimental or testing and that was what i used ... Since now "poppler-utils" is in debian stable I updated the post with pdfunite!

Thanks. pdfunite is far more elegant and, indeed, convenient.
